The upcoming BMW M3, the 2014 M3 may come with a new tri-turbocharged 3.3-liter engine that will develop about 450hp. One of these three turbocharges will be operated by electricity, rather than the exhaust gases.
Most probably in this way, BMW is trying to reduce the lag time.
This isn’t the first time we’ve head of the engine, as it will reportedly go into the upcoming X3 M that will probably debut in Frankfurt, and could also see action in the M2 Coupe.
The boss of BMW’s M Division, Dr Friedrich Nitschke, has confirmed that a raft of new models wearing the famous M badge is on the way – with the M2 to be joined by a powerful M3 and a successor to the M1 supercar.
Additionally, we can expect aggressive styling and a lightweight body that adopts carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components.
“Our pace of development must accelerate,” he told Auto Express in an exclusive interview. “We can build more cars, and we can build a wider range of cars.”
Also, this time, the model will only be offered as a coupe and cabrio – the sedan version will be dropped.
As about the M2, well is expected to arrive in 2015.
