Updated 2018 Ford F-150 and Expedition are on Police duty image

The US automaker has long history of turning its models into Police cruisers, and hasn’t skipped the chance of offering the recently upgraded F-150 or Expedition acting as police cars.

The Blue Oval has now granted us with a first peek at its newest uniform officers, both models taking up the black and white livery, complete with their high-strength aluminum-alloy bodies. The F-150 SSV and the Expedition SSV also have a second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, while the F-150 can even be sourced with the massive 5.0-liter V8. A 10-speed automatic comes standard to support efficiency, alongside an auto stop-start system. The F-150 can be ordered with XL trim and F-150 SuperCrew or SuperCab configuration, alongside either 4×2 or all-wheel drive.

For the Expedition the standard 40/20/40 front seat layout has been changed to a 40/blank/40 configuration for added space to fit optional equipment – in the back there’s a vinyl bench instead of the rear seats. The two new introductions will join the Police family consisting of the Explorer Interceptor Utility and Fusion Interceptor models. “Some agencies need to haul five people with higher equipment-carrying capacity, or off-road capabilities are required… that’s where the F-150 SSV and Expedition SSV come in,” comments Ford Police Brand Marketing Manager, Stephen Tyler.
