BMW has announced its plans to introduce an updated version of the X5 eDrive Concept at the 2014 New York Auto Show, later on this month.
The updated version of the BMW X5 eDrive Concept will be officially presented to the public during the 2014 New York Auto Show. The announcement has been made by the German based automaker recently and rumors are saying that this will be offering a preview into a final production version, which might make its way to the 2014 Paris Motor Show, in October.
“The further refined BMW Concept X5 eDrive being exhibited at the New York Auto Show demonstrates the lengths that BMW is going to in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and emissions in the luxury Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment”, says BMW in its official press release.
The original concept was shown last year, during the Frankfurt Motor Show, and its specifications have remained the same, as this is coming with a four-cylinder 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo engine under its hood, rated at 245 HP (180 kW), working together with a 95 HP (70 kW) electric motor. The total output produced is 272 HP (200 kW) and this is translated into an average fuel consumption of 3.8L / 100km (74.3 mpg UK / 61.9 mpg US). The electric range stands at 30 km (20 miles) and the model can reach a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) in full electric mode.
