Cadillac is planning to introduce an upgraded version of its CTS-V, which should take the battle with its main German rivals to a whole new level.
We cannot say that the Cadillac CTS-V is underpowered or not that good looking because it really isn’t. In fact, it has some serious competition in mind, such as the Mercedes-AMG E63 or the BMW M5, and with rival like these, it definitely has to be pretty good. However, the North American based automaker hasn’t finished the development of the high-performance full-sized sedan because it is now planning to offer an even more powerful variant.
The announcement hasn’t been made by GM officially but by a source within the company, who has spoken to Automobile Magazine. This particular version of the Cadillac CTS-V will battle the next generation of the M5 and E63 AMG but its total output is not known at this point. However, the source mentioned above did say that 640 HP will not be the final figure. Meanwhile, those interested in the powerful sedan can have it with the 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine, capable of putting down a total of 640 HP (477 kW) and 855 Nm (630 lb-ft) of torque. Power is being sent to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), this needs 3.9 seconds and top speed is limited to 322 km/h (200 mph). The official starting price of the car stands at 83,995 USD.
