The British based automaker McLaren has announced the official starting price of the 2013 MP4-12C supercar, which has been set at $241,800 in the United States.
After announcing earlier this year that the McLaren MP4-12C will arrive in the United States, the British supercar is once again being placed into the spotlights, this time with the company announcing the official starting price of the 2013 model year. The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C is 10,400 USD more expensive compared to the 2012 MP4-12C but even so, the supercar still undercuts one of its rivals, the 2012 Porsche RS, by 2,352 USD, which has a starting price of 244,152 USD.
The most significant upgrade of the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C is the additional 25 horsepower, squeezed out of the slightly modified 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is now developing a total output of 616 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 600 Nm of torque available between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. Despite the additional 25 HP, the fuel consumption remains the same in the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C but the top speed of the supercar has increased from 205 mph to 207 mph. A bunch of electric upgrades are also included in the refreshed MP4-12C, like the automatic headlight control, rain sensing wipers, a new mode for the cabin control and more. In Europe, the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C will be available from October.
