The Ingolstadt-based automaker has revealed the newly introduced 2017 R8 sports car – now in its second generation – can be had in the United States from $162, 900.
The 2017 model year is going to reach US dealerships later this year, with the base model being equipped with the usual V10 engine – the new generation has Audi’s well known evolutionary design and boasts as highlights the LED lights, an active rear spoiler, as well as sporty 19-inch aluminum wheels. The cockpit will be treating the driver and passenger to 18-way power seats, Nappa leather upholstery, a flat-bottom steering wheel or to a 13-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. The R8’s main highlight inside will of course by the Audi Virtual cockpit system that has been introduced instead of the classic instrument cluster – as it boasts a 12.3-inch digital screen.
The middle-engined coupe has a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter FSI V10 mil churning out 540 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, mated to the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system that puts an emphasis on the rear wheels. This combination is good for a 0-60 miles per hour (96 km/h) run in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph. The R8 V10 plus can be had from $189,900 and this one comes packing 610 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and going all the way up to 205 mph. The flagship model comes with nice amenities such as a carbon fiber body kit, ceramic brakes, carbon fiber mirror caps, a sports exhaust system, and lighter racing-inspired seats.
