Volvo’s US division has revealed recently the pricing scheme for the all new 2017 S90 flagship sedan.
The Swedish automaker made a successful move when it presented the second generation XC90 crossover and the company is now looking to capitalize on the image boost by also presenting across dealerships the 2017 S90 midsize sedan. The model is now available for order in the US market and the pricing will start from $46, 950. This will get new owners the base S90 T5 Momentum which still comes with lots of amenities – such as leather interior, the Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, or a nine-inch Sensus infotainment system. The front wheel drive model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission choice is the same for all S90 versions – an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The meatier S90 will be the T6 AWD Momentum which starts from $52,950 – the same engine is also packing a supercharger which lifts output to 316 hp and 295 lb-ft.
The 2017 S90 packs – as is the tradition with any Volvo – lots of standard and optional safety systems and is even the first car in the US to add a semi-autonomous driving system as standard. It also packs the “moose” detection system which guards the car from large animal impacts or the run-off road mitigation system which can intervene with steering inputs to make sure you don’t swerve off the beaten path. The 2017 S90 in T5 and T6 guises will become available in showrooms this summer and later on the customers will also be able to choose the top of the line T8 Twin Engine setup.
