Mitsubishi Motors North America reported sales of 3,735 units in November, down 13 percent from the same month last year.
It’s the second straight monthly decline, following 13 consecutive increases. Mitsubishi’s year-to-date sales remain however more than 45 percent ahead of January through November sales last year. This marks Mitsubishi’s highest sales total since 2008 for the first eleven months of the year.
“I think it’s just a matter of us coming back to the rest of the pack. We really had a tremendous first nine months. We, in fact, passed the total from last year in the first nine months of the year,” MMNA spokesman Dan Irvin was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Sales through November 2011 have already exceeded sales for the entire calendar year 2010. Sales of Mitsubishi vehicles for calendar-year-to-date 2011 are at 73,988 units, a 45.6% increase over the first 11 months last year (50,809) and also Mitsubishi’s highest January through November sales total for three years.
The company’s best-selling model in November was the Outlander Sport (badged ASX in Europe), which saw an increase of 64.7 percent to 1,133 units. The all-electric Mitsubishi i began shipping to West Coast dealers in November, with its first retail sales to begin in December.
