North American fans of the German automaker could have a new joy, as the automaker just outed the Track Handling Package for the 2015 BMW 228i Coupe.
The special feature is inspired by the long running BMW “S-package” vehicles – which have been around for three decades – and brings a lot of goodies for those who enjoy spending time on the track.
Available from July 2014 for both 6-speed manual and 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission-equipped 228i Coupe models, the package features extras like the M Adaptive Suspension, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on new 18-inch light-alloy wheels, Variable Sport Steering and also the M Sport Brakes.
Besides lowering the ride by 10 mm, the Adaptive M Suspension also features front axle and central accelerometers – which gather data on the go, combine it with data from steering angle sensor, throttle position and brake pressure sensors to adapt in milliseconds to the conditions of the road.
The Variable Sport Steering, the M Sport Brakes system and the specially developed Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, taken from the M235i Coupe, ensure the best possible handling of the 228i Coupe. The only problem for now is the price, which hasn’t been announced – but as we all know – all these marvels come at a cost, so the Track Handling Package won’t be cheap.
