US car sales for November 2010 image

US car sales jumped 17 percent in November 2010, figures released at the start of December showed, pointing to a strengthening recovery in the country’s market. Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan and Hyundai all posted double-digit gains.

Sales of the Japanese automaker’s brands (Toyota, Lexus and Scion) fell three percent, in sharp contrast to its Detroit competitors General Motors and Ford, which were up 12 percent and 20 percent respectively.
The overall increase in sales was the 11th gain in 12 months, brightening hopes that consumers are once again buying vehicles.
