The second largest US automaker has tapped the services of Dwayne Johnson, the former wrestler known as “The Rock” turned fully fledged actor to assist the new advertising campaign about its dealerships’ service departments.
Starting October 12 the people will see the commercials featuring Johnson as the leader of a crew of technicians called “The Specialists at Ford.” The deal will not conclude with the new advertising campaign, as the star has been signed on a multiyear agreement that will have “a continuous stream” of TV, radio, digital and social-media advertising, according to the automaker. The company added the choice was intentional, as Johnson has been a long running fan of the brand, owns three Fords – including “the black gorilla”, an F-150 pickup truck. “His genuine appreciation of the brand makes the alignment of Ford service and Dwayne Johnson a great partnership,” commented the company in a statement.
Johnson has said his customized F-150 was among favorites in his long list of rides in the collection he owns, with famous models included being an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante. Dwayne has been famous for years for his professional wrestling career, where he owns seventeen championship reigns in WWE, the WWF/E Championship eight times and the WCW/World Championship twice. He also won the Tag Team championship five times and winner of the 2000 royal Rumble. Naturally, he has been considered by many to be the biggest WWE superstar in history, but he also has a successful acting career now, appearing in numerous blockbusters – including the Fast and Furious franchise.
