LeBron James is a true basketball star, with 11 pro seasons, two championships and a decade of selections to the NBA All-Star game. And besides that, he’s a genuine car guy.
But it’s actually the first time the “King” has decided to endorse a car. The lucky guys are South Korea’s Kia, with James becoming the ambassador for their own flagship luxury sedan K900. And, surprisingly enough, it turns out that LeBron was fond of the car before he was paid to be – even tweeting about it back in August. He also bought a K900 before the multi-year arrangement, although the 420-horsepower, gadget-laden luxury sedan has some pretty high standards to fill. That’s because according to a duPont Registry report, the King’s garage includes a Lamborghini Aventador roadster (with a scheme to match his “King’s Pride” Nike LeBron XI collector shoe), a Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ferrari F430 Spider, Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, and Maybach 57S. And there’s also the Ferrari 458 Spider that James showed off back in Miami before returning to Cleveland.
According to a report coming from ESPN, the deal is a multimillion-dollar package – and James would need to go to his team’s home games in the sedan. The Kia brand is also a major endorser for all of the NBA, its cars being the official vehicles for the basketball series. Anyway, we’re now looking forward to Kia’s marketing and publicity teams incorporating James in the highly entertaining adverts that also feature fellow brand ambassador and NBA star Blake Griffin.
