According to Cars.com, shoppers that want a hassle-free car ownership experience might do well to shop among the Japanese brands. And that’s a prospect many have to account for, as US sales are moving at a brisk pace this year.
The auto-related website just updated its annual list of the top vehicles when it comes to worry-free experience to account for 2014 models. The top five autos come from Japanese makers and four of them belong in the premium segment. The top five was made by the Lexus RX 450h, Lexus ES 350, Lexus RX 350, Acura TL and Toyota Camry Hybrid.
“Car shoppers have a lot to sort through when looking for a new car,” said Joe Wiesenfelder, Cars.com’s executive editor. “How much a car will cost to repair over time is a huge consideration. There’s a lot of information out there about reliability and maintenance, so we combined it all into one formula to help shoppers make informed purchase decisions and enjoy worry-free ownership of their new car.”
The team compiled its index from the site’s thousands of consumer car reviews, years of gathering reliability figures, forecasted maintenance costs and included standard warranties. The other ten positions in the top 15 were occupied by: Toyota Avalon; Toyota Tundra; GMC Yukon; Toyota Sienna; Honda Ridgeline; Chevrolet Tahoe; Toyota Camry; Lexus LS 460; Toyota Sequoia and the Honda Civic.
