Varley Electric Vehicles apparently is an Australian automaker and the evR450 may actually be Australia’s first electric supercar and in a world more concerned in saving the trees than the fact that we are over 7bn people on the planet, this EV supercar thing might just catch up to the public.
“You could expect seeing our driving on Queensland roads as early as January 2012. We are proud of its technology based on Varley’s long experience in electric vehicles and our close relationship with Tritium and Ultramotive, two other local technology companies”, said the Varley Electric Vehicles division manager, John Bettini.
The Australian automaker says that its evR450 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and its top speed has been electronically limited to 200 km/h (124 mph). Don’t expect to have a lot of range and the Varley supercar can travel for about 150 km (93 miles), but the evR450 will be offered in two variants and the other one is expected to travel up to 300 km (186 miles).
If you think that because almost no one has heard of Varley Electric Vehicles and their evR450 that the EV supercar would be cheap; Wrong! 207.120 USD or 150.045 EUR is its starting price so an obvious question pops in my mind: “what’s wrong with the Tesla?”. Well, besides being sold out for 2012.
