Not long ago we heard that West Cost Customs is back with a new project – a commission from Mitsubishi Motors that have them a 1917 Model A to celebrate the company’s centenary in a different manner.
More precisely they tasked the aftermarket specialist with the conversion of the classic 1917 Mitsubishi Model A into a contemporary plug in hybrid, using the PHEV powertrain from a modern Outlander PHEV sport utility vehicle. Now it seems the conversion has finished and is ready for its international debut, just in time to celebrate the 100 years anniversary of the company that is now part of the Renault Nissan Alliance family.
The Mitsubishi Re-Model A is scheduled to appear live for the first time on TV during a special episode of Inside West Coast Customs, aired Monday, November 6 at 10PM ET/PT on Velocity. Naturally, the show will present the entire build process, from idea to the first test drive after completion. Mitsubishi will then take the Re-Model A and showcase it during the Los Angeles Auto Show (December 1-10). Arguably the project is also a promotional stunt for the alleged introduction of the Outlander PHEV on the US market, as an affordable plug in hybrid crossover.
