The Italian based automaker Fiat has decided to take advantage of the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show in order to launch its 2012 model year Fiat 500 Abarth on the North American auto market and besides presenting the pocket-rocket to the American public, the car manufacturer has also released the commercial video which will promote it over-seas.

Fiat has chosen a unique way to promote its 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth in the United States and the saying “be careful what you wish for because it might come true” works perfectly here. But we won’t tell you more about the commercial because we don’t want to spoil it, like Clarkson spoiled this year’s Top Gear Christmas Special. Anyway, let’s talk about more interesting stuff like the 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth’s engine which is the 1.4 liter MultiAir turbocharged but the Italian based automaker won’t say what output will the unit develop.

Rumors say that the 1.4 liter MultiAir engine will be uptuned from the European version to 160 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque (230 Nm), but the powerplant might keep its 135 horsepower output. The 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth will also feature new suspension, new brakes and a new exhaust system, among many other things. Fiat didn’t put a price on its pocket-rocket but the model is expected to hit the dealerships in the US sometime next year.
