Video: 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK with Magic Sky Control

Mercedes will unveil next year the new SLK. For the moment there are not very much technical details about this car. What we know is that the upcoming SLK grows compared with the old car; it’s 31mm longer, at 4131mm, and 33mm wider, at 1808mm. It’s a little taller too, at 1304mm.

The 2012 Mercedes SLK will bring several improvements to the model, including ATTENTION ASSIST and ADAPTIVE BRAKE systems as standard, Emergency braking and a trick hard-top roof. The 2012 Mercedes SLK will also come with Bi-Xenon headlights, with cornering and Active Curve Illumination.

As about the Magic Sky Roof – well the idea is simple. at the touch of a button it can be made either transparent or darkened. In transparent mode it will offer an open-air experience during cold weather, while in darkened mode it will afford a haven of shade and prevent the interior from heating up in direct sunlight.

The SLK’s public debut is scheduled for the Geneva motor show in spring 2011.
