One of the toughest cars out there, for sale the Toyota Hilux, sales is on a new generation and even if the SUV isn’t too different compared to the one currently cruising the streets, the Japanese automaker wanted to release a new commercial based on “ruggedness”.
Toyota says that its Hilux engine range remains the same, the only difference being that the 2012 model will be less polluting. The 2.5 D4-D and the 3.0 D4-D have been fitted with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) and the CO2 emissions have dropped in the 2.5 D4-D by 10 percent at 194 g/km, while the fuel economy has been improved by 10 percent to 38.7 mpg.
In the larger 3.0 D4-D version the CO2 emissions have fallen to 203 g/km for the manual while the automatic is emitting 227 g/km. Toyota says that with the manual the 3.0 D4-D is now getting 36.7 mpg (34.0 mpg before) while in the automatic the SUV gets 32.8 mpg (31.7 mpg before).
