The German based automaker Volkswagen has recently announced that its 2012 model year Golf will be offered with a choice of two new engines, in the form of a 1.6 TDI, while the second one remains a mystery.
According to Volkswagen, the new generation of the Golf Cabriolet will benefit from two new powerplants, with the first one being a 1.6 liter TDI diesel engine which is generating 105 horsepower and thanks to its BlueMotion technology it goes for an average of 27.2 km / l while emitting just 117 g/km of CO2. The second engine remains in the shadow for now but the German automaker says it will generate 210 HP.
An interesting detail about the 2012 VW Golf Cabrio is definitely the roof, which according to the manufacturer can be operated at speeds exceeding 30 km/h. Even if the 2012 model year of the popular Golf Cabrio hasn’t been tested yet by the Euro NCAP specialists, the vehicle is being offered with ABS, ESP, side airbags, and chest and knees airbags for the driver, along with LED headlamps and many other features.
Sadly this is all we know about the 2012 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet and we’ll end this news with a rumor: the model is expected to be priced at around 23.000 EUR for the entry-level version. You can watch the 2012 VW Golf Cabrio in the video below. Enjoy!
