The new generation of the Toyota RAV4 has recently earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick after it was recently crash tested.
The 2013 Toyota RAV4 has joined a number of compact crossovers as Top Safety Picks, like the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the Subaru Forester, the VW Tiguan, the GMC Terrain, the Chevy Equinox, the Mazda CX-5, the Jeep Patriot, the Kia Sportage, the Hyundai Tucson, the Ford Escape or the Honda CR-V, after it was crash tested recently. The model, however, isn’t eligible for the Top Safety Pick + designation, because it wasn’t tested in the new small overlap front test.
As a quick reminder, the 2013 Toyota RAV4 has been officially presented to the public in late 2012, during the Los Angeles Auto Show. The model has an updated version of the platform and it’s powered by a 2.5 liter I-4 engine, which is producing a total output of 176 HP, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
