Volkswagen has recently released the first teaser video with the new generation of the Golf, which will be officially revealed on the 4th of September in Berlin.
According to the German based automaker, the 2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 is riding on the new MQB modular platform and this is helping the hatchback save as much as 100 kg (220 pounds) from its total weight. Besides the impressive weight loss, the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf will also increase in size compared to the current one and fuel consumption will also be improved by up to 26 percent.
The first details on the 2013 VW Golf 7 are limited but we know that the model will be powered by a 1.2 TSI and a 1.4 TSI, which will get the Active Cylinder Management system, along with the 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI diesel engines, which will also make their way under the hood of the new model. A 2.0 liter TSI unit will be offered too, in two outputs, one for the GTI and the other for the R. More details on the 2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 will be announced on the 4th of September, in Berlin, where the model will be officially presented to the public. The new Golf will also be brought to the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
