The new generation of the Audi R8 has been recently spotted on the Ascari raceway while it was being tested out.
The guys from Auto Express have managed to take a closer look at the 2016 Audi R8 as the supercar was being tested on the Ascari track. The clip posted below is showing us the highly anticipated model from several angles and close-ups and it may be a good exercise if you want to find out more about it. Keep in mind that the new R8 generation will be riding on the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan and this won’t be the only thing shared with its Italian cousin because the engine will be identical too.
Speaking of the engine, you should know that the 5.2 liter V10 from the previous Gallardo has been updated and fitted onto the Huracan. This will make its way under the hood of the new R8 too but it remains unknown at the time whether it will be producing the same 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque as the one found on the Italian supercar.
The 2016 Audi R8 will be offered with a mid-engine and all-wheel drive layout. The engine will be connected to an S tronic double clutch transmission and this will be the only gearbox available as the company is not looking into offering a manual variant too. More details on the German vehicle will be announced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, where it will be officially unveiled.
