Audi has released yet another teaser with the upcoming generation of the R8, which will be officially presented to the public in a couple of weeks, at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Usually when seeing a prototype wearing camouflage in a video we expect it to be a spy video but every once in a while, carmakers use this “trick” to tease their upcoming models. This is the case with Audi too which has used a prototype spy video in order to put some light on its upcoming R8 generation, which will be officially introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, on the 3rd of March.
The prototype in question is being piloted by factory driver Frank Stippler and the clip is also showing us Heinz Hollerweger, the director of Quattro GmbH, talk about the model and naming it “very special”. As you probably already know by now, the 2016 Audi R8 will be sharing the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan and this will not be the only thing shared between the two because some technologies and the engine will be making its way onto the German supercar.
The 2016 Audi R8 will be dropping the V8 from its future lineup and it will only be offered with a 5.2 liter V10. This is the same one used on the Huracan and also the one used on the Gallardo, and not only, but it has been updated and in the new Italian supercar it is producing 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 NM (413 lb-ft) of torque. The new R8 generation will be offered exclusively with AWD and with an S tronic automatic transmission.
