[Video] 2016 Chevy Camaro SS takes a dyno run and displays twin-turbo prowess image

We’re only a couple of months away from the moment Chevrolet started delivering the first units of its latest generation Camaro and already eager tuners have worked their magic on the mighty SS.

Yep, we’re giving kudos to the American automaker which managed to have its classic muscle car model transform into a true sports car via the latest generation and the enthusiasm is certainly contagious – judging by the haste of the tuners that are already delivering their own modifications. One such case is Redline Motorsports which has decided a twin-turbo combo will deliver magic to the Corvette-sourced LT1 engine sitting under the hood. Of course, having the powerplant already in use in another Chevy model was of use, but we’re still impressed by the quick solution the Florida-based tuner has found for the clients craving for more power than the SS can deliver in its standard iteration.

That’s because the released dyno run of the TT 2016 Camaro SS shows the capable sixth-generation muscle car can put to the rear wheels no less than 657 hp and 633 lb-ft (Nm). This is far more power than a standard Z06 Corvette already, but the tuning specialist is already promising a three-stage setup. The engineers have depicted here Stage One, where the stock engine has been kept intact and using pump gas, with the turbines mounted below the mill to keep the assembly as simple as possible. By the way, the tuning community has been so prodigious with the SS – besides this twin-turbo contraption there are also supercharged and nitrous-enabled incarnations – they even trumped the GM engineers, which are still out there prototyping the ZL1.
