The next generation of the Opel Astra has been caught on camera once again, this time while it was being tested out on the Nurburgring.
It is no surprise that the German based automaker Opel is currently working on a new generation of the Astra, as our spy photographers have managed to capture several test mules on camera over these past few months, but it seems that the model in question has taken a step forward as the newest spy video is now coming from the “Green Hell”. The clip posted below is showing us the next-gen Opel Astra being driven fast and it seems that there will be some big changes over the current version.
The 2016 Opel Astra will be influenced, in styling, be the Monza Concept, and it will be lowered compared to the current model. The vehicle will also get the longer roof spoiler, a more prominent tailgate, independent rear suspension system and much more. Rumors are saying that it will also drop approximately 100 kg (220 lbs) from its weight and that it will be getting a more spacious cabin. The new Opel Astra will be produced outside Germany, in Poland and in the United Kingdom. The vehicle is believed to be unveiled sometimes next year.
According to the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), automotive output was down to 71,000 units last month because of summer holidays and repairs made at a major facility.
