Station wagons have always been pretty enticing for European drivers with families, thanks to the increased haulage capabilities. But it seems they are also making a fashionable return in the US as well, as long as they have some crossover abilities.
And while it doesn’t have the Jeep emblem on the hood, the Audi A4 allroad is a capable crossover, a model that doesn’t feel as bulky as an SUV but still brings the latter’s light off-road capabilities. The best thing for the Ingolstadt automaker is they have an all-new generation to showcase this year, and they show they know how to have fun with a model that costs an arm and a leg over the Golf Alltrack – a model that basically does the same job for less money. Yes, we do acknowledge the fact that with increased price comes lots of other perks – including the AWD system always on, compared to the Golf.
In the latest Audi commercial you get to see why the A4 allroad wagon is the right thing for you, with unpaved roads everywhere, jumps and even drifting action. There’s a 2-liter turbo taking care of the magic, with its 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft sent to the quattro AWD via the company’s well known seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It can also reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in a good 5.6 seconds while sipping 23 mpg city/28 highway of gasoline, according to the EPA.
