Alpina has officially introduced online its take on the BMW 7 Series, dubbed the 2017 B7 xDrive, prior to the automaker taking the wraps off the model in front of the audience at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The model will then reach the United States in September, wearing all the usual Alpina bells and whistles – included the restrained sporty take on the flagship executive sedan. As such, we’re treated to a modified front end with an active shutter grille and a front lip spoiler. At the back we noticed the stainless steel sports exhaust system, the rear spoiler but also the 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber adorning the sides. We can also highlight the high-performance braking system with blue brake calipers and the two bespoke exterior colors: Alpina Blue metallic and Alpina Green metallic. The styling tweaks continue inside the cabin where the owner will be greeted by the Nappa leather seats, leather-wrapped dashboard, sport steering wheel with blue and green contrast stitching, ceramic controls, illuminated door sill plates, and Piano Black or Myrtle Luxury Wood trim. There’s also an updated digital instrument cluster and even more standard amenities such as head-up display and a rearview camera.
Under the hood sits a modified biturbo 4.4-liter V8 engine churning out 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, mated to a specially-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. This is enough for a 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in 3.6 seconds and an estimated top speed of 193 mph. The BMW Alpina B7 xDrive also boasts an air suspension, Dynamic Damper Control, the Active Roll Stabilization system as well as the Integral Active Steering system.
