Here’s a quickie – the second generation 2017 Porsche Panamera has just debuted officially (though unofficially has been around for some time) – and it’s already breaking world speed records.
This is literally blazing fast, as the Panamera has been named the king of the luxury sedan lap at the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife. Porsche decided to showcase its prowess in a video you can see below, allowing us to catch a glimpse of the new four-door coupe/sedan/hatchback (segments get so blurry nowadays) running up and down the Nordschleife. The Green Hell has been handled in a blazing fast 7 minutes and 38 seconds, with the Panamera Turbo at the command, of course. And this is about the same time as doing laps in supercars such as the Lexus LFA and Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. And by the way, Porsche says it didn’t trick us into the achievement (most likely because they don’t have the VW Dieselgate software) as they used road tires and a standard vehicle.
But given the size and weight of the Porsche Panamera this is quite an impressive achievement. The credentials of the Panamera are now clearly undisputed – we kind of laughed a bit when they went for the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb with Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy at the wheel. But we’re not laughing now. We’re impressed.
