The hotly-expected revival of the Alpine sports brand is almost here, with the make presenting the new rear-wheel drive, mid engine sports car in a sporty manner, which looks quite adept at hooning.
Alpine has now come up with the first official teaser of its upcoming A120, which has already been previewed by a spectacular prototype – and has become one of the most eagerly anticipated new models for next year. Alpine has launched a dedicated website and Youtube channel and they have even kicked off the order books for the First Edition model, which makes us believe the actual launch is right around the corner. Alpine, a brand that disappeared since the mid-1990s is a sports car company established back in 1955 by Renault tuner and racer Jean Redele. It swiftly went from delivering custom parts to manufacturing Renault-based, rear-engined sports cars.
Alpine made itself noticeable with numerous racing and rallying successes, many of them unexpected and above their pay grade. Renault thus acquired them back in 1973 and married them with the factory Renault Sport racing unit – but ultimately that led to the marque’s demise in 1995. The A120 is expectedly very similar to the Alpine Vision concept presented earlier this year – which had a retro but fully modern look that built on the classic A110.
