The guys over at “Q by Aston Martin” have decided to make the day for Aston Martin Racing by delivering a cool set of special wings range that will be used to celebrate the start of the 2016 endurance season.
The unique badges were actually only commissioned by the company’s customization division “Q by Aston Martin,” with manufacturing being attributed to experts in the field – Birmingham-based Jewellery Quarter. Every piece celebrates one of the rounds of the 2016 endurance championship. For example the forthcoming 6 Hours of Silverstone (April 15-17) will see the trio of V8 Vantage GTE models pick the custom wing inspired by the British flag. The rest of the locations will also get their own bespoke wings in a bid to celebrate the track’s location.
According to the artisans, modern and classic technology met when the wings were created as age-old jewelry making machinery was assisted by the latest CAD equipment. The first step was the initial pressing and afterwards the winged logos were submitted to an annealing process to make sure they come out durable and strong. The next level was the chipping process which took care of any remaining ridges in the metal. The colors were added in manually and afterwards the wings were linished with a fine grindstone to obtain a smooth surface. Up next was the fire to glaze and polish processes, which created a shiny appearance prior to the plating phase.
