After being presented earlier this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the German based automaker Audi has decided to present a video of its E-Tron Spyder, where the hybrid is hitting the road in California, proving that it’s much more than just a concept.
What seems to be the future of the V10 powered Audi R8, the E-Tron, is a hybrid with a rear-mounted twin-turbo V6 TDI diesel engine which is developing a total output of 295 HP and has a peak torque of 650 Nm, which is sending its power to the rear axle, while the front axle is being “moved” by two electric motors which generate a total of 64 kW and 352 Nm of torque.
Even if that doesn’t sound too impressive you will definitely be moved by the next figures which are 4.4 and 2.2, translated into the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds and the average fuel consumption which is 2.2 liters every 100 km, translated into “American” with 106.92 mpg, while emitting just 59 g/km of CO2.
Driving in electric mode only will give you a range of just 50 km or 31 miles with a maximum top speed of 60 km/h or 37 mph, while with a filled fuel tank of 50 liters the range goes to more than 1.000 km (621 miles).
