Audi’s latest ad work for the massive Q7 crossover – currently the flagship of the sport utility range – includes the vehicle being “agile like a lynx” and as “quick as an avalanche”.

But maybe more importantly the Q7 is able to scare off the fabled Yeti – most likely with the price it asks when also factoring in all the optional goodies – though the automaker’s latest ad probably wants you to believe the scare was delivered by the car’s demeanor. The commercial is set against a backdrop that will ring very true to people off the American East Coast – snowing and freezing temperatures are the norm here. As the story goes, a group of local villagers – living in what appears to be post-storm New York (we’re kidding of course) – tell a tale of a different beast that managed to scare off the mighty Yeti – that mysterious dweller of parts of the Himalayas.

The elders of the village paint an interesting picture – the Yeti disappeared once the new Q7, aka “quattro” appeared in the neighborhood. Anyways, we’re not sure if East Coasters will rave about the lighthearted commercial – though some fun in dire situations can go a long way towards achieving relief. Of course, the Ingolstadt-based automaker does have some bragging rights – the new Q7 is using lightweight aluminum underpinnings and body panels to shave off 325 kg (716.5 pounds) over the previous generation. And the new design also boasts the assistance of the usual powerful engines – from 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder petrol to a 3.0-liter diesel V6.
