An Audi R8 supercar has recently burst into flames on a highway in Canada for no obvious reason.
When writing about unfortunate events in which supercars are involved we are used to blaming the drivers for their lack of experience and excess speed. But this isn’t the case here and it seems that the V10 engine used in the Audi R8 and in the Lamborghini Gallardo has a few problems, as owners of the Italian supercar found out over the years and as an Audi R8 owner has also found out in Canada, after his German ride has spontaneously combusted on a highway, for no obvious reason. The aftermath of the unfortunate event has been caught on camera and can be seen in the video posted below.
As a quick reminder, the Audi R8 has been in production ever since 2006 and the supercar is being assembled in Neckarsulm, Germany. The Audi R8 is coming in two body styles, two-door coupe and two-door spyder, with the company’s Quattro all-wheel drive and a choice of two engines, the 4.2 liter V8 FSI and the 5.2 liter V10 FSI, mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed R tronic transmission. The new generation of the Audi R8 is expected to make its way onto the market pretty soon.
