The facelifted version of the Audi R8 has been recently caught testing on the famous German track, the Nurburgring.
Rumors about a possible upgrade to the current Audi R8 have appeared earlier this year and the German based automaker didn’t say anything about it, but it seems that Audi was busy developing it because the model is apparently getting ready to hit the market. The Audi R8 facelift has been spied on the Nurburgring where it was being tested and rumors are saying that it will be officially presented at the 2012 Moscow Motor Show, in August, and it will hit the Paris Motor Show too, one month later.
The Audi R8 facelift is still expected to get the 4.2 liter V8 engine, which might develop around 450 horsepower, and the 5.2 liter V10 too, which will generate 550 horsepower. Rumors are saying that the facelifted R8 and the successor of the Lamborghini Gallardo will have a lot of things in common, starting with the carbon fiber aluminum monocoque, which weighs 198 kg (437 lbs), and will help the German supercar to save some weight, about 60 kg (132 lbs), than the current R8. More details on the Audi R8 facelift will be announced at the Moscow Motor Show, in August.
