An acceleration test between the Audi R8 V10 Plus and the Mercedes-AMG GT S is proving once again that we have the winner on paper.
Mercedes may say that the direct competitor for its new AMG GT S is the Audi R8 V10 Plus but that doesn’t mean that the 3-pointed star vehicle is as fast as the one born in Ingolstadt. If you don’t believe us, you can check out the video posted below and see just how fast the R8 is compared to the AMG GT and you may consider paying a little extra for it.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus has an evolutionary design and it is bringing the LED lighting units, new bucket seats, a 12.3-inch display replacing most of the controls, Alcantara / pearl Nappa leather and so on. Under its hood, we can find the 5.2 liter V10 engine shared with the Lamborghini Huracan. This is offered in two outputs, 540 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) and 602 HP (449 kW) and 650 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque on the R8 V10 Plus range-topping model.
The Mercedes-AMG GT on the other hand is making use of a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine. The unit is also offered in two levels, 460 HP (340 kW) and 600 Nm (440 lb-ft) of torque, and 503 HP (375 kW) and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque on the range-topping AMG GT S. The sports car is the successor of the SLS AMG but it is smaller, cheaper and less powerful.
