Audi appears to have commenced prototype testing of its upcoming facelifted S3 Sportback, which has been caught here while roaming the streets of Copenhagen in Denmark.
Since we’re talking about a model that belongs to the Volkswagen Group, the mid life-cycle refresh is as subtle as it gets – just remember we have started having trouble distinguishing the brand new generations from the predecessors. Anyways, the S3 Sportback will undergo some mild cosmetic tweaks to match the looks to the A3 sedan, A3 Cabrio and A3 in three door livery. The more extreme S3 Sportback caught here wears the camouflage only on the front end to make us unaware of the design modifications that look to closely match the cues imposed by the new A4. The spy footage also depicts the model wearing camouflage across the rear bumper and liftgate but once revealed you’ll probably need a Sherlock Holmes inspiration and detective kit to spot the differences without prior knowledge.
The interior is expected to also receive as an optional goodie the Audi Virtual Cockpit with 12.3-inch fully digital, customizable instrument cluster. We have no idea though if the engineering team has reworked the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine currently churning out 292 horsepower (221 kW) and 280 pound-feet (380 Nm) of torque. Mated to a standard six speed manual gearbox the S3 Sportback does the 62 mph sprint in 5.5 seconds or just five seconds if going for the optional six-speed S tronic. Most likely the entire A3 family facelift will be on point at Audi’s booth in Geneva during the motor show starting early March.
