The Ingolstadt-based automaker is enforcing its Q sport utility vehicle roster by adding the long-awaited baby crossover – dubbed the Q2.
And since the Geneva Motor Show is just around the corner – where the model is expected to be presented in front of the worldwide audience – we’re treated to yet another teaser of the vehicle, this time around in the form of moving footage. We’re not being tipped much to the exact design of the model because we’re dealing with aerial image – the 16-second clip shows a young and bold yellow paint job that might be an all new hue debuting on the smallest SUV in the range. We’re expecting Audi to be consequential and as such deliver a surprise-free design – many of the elements from the older Q brothers will be present, albeit with the necessary scale reduction. The previous teaser (we also got a worthless parking lot with the other Q models and an empty spot for the Q2 before that) showed the model hiding under the car cover – but we did get a glimpse of some sharp character lines, which is actually the same as the rest of the pack which have been focusing more on angles lately.
The Audi Q2 is expected to sport an adapted form of the highly modular MQB platform and be treated as an extra amenity to the quattro all wheel drive system. The engines are expected to start off with a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol that also can be found for example inside the all new Seat Ateca. Familiar entries – 1.4 TSI and beefier 1.6 and 2.0 TDIs are also to be expected, alongside six speed manual and DSG transmissions.
