The Bentley Bentayga is getting the wide release customers have been waiting for and as the first true production series uber-luxury SUV in the world it’s only natural that reviews will be pouring in.
For the appetizer course we have the gents over at Auto Express testing this crimson red exemplary, allowing us the first head on reviews of what British luxury taken off-road can be expected from the Bentayga. We’re already pretty much certain – to the point that we wouldn’t bet a dollar against it – the new luxury SUV will be the model that will top the sales charts at Bentley and deliver the best profit. Just look over at Porsche and its successful Cayenne saga. And demand for over the top luxury SUVs is so massive that every ultra-premium brand is jumping in the bandwagon. Lamborghini will deliver a production series Urus in 2018, while Maserati, Rolls-Royce and even Aston Martin are preparing their future competitors. For now though Bentley lays claim to being the manufacturer of the fastest, most powerful SUV in the world.
That’s because it sports under the hood that massive twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine that delivers a flat four seconds sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) and a bragging rights 187 mph (300 km/h) top speed. Besides all these technical abilities, the Bentayga should be able to tackle the rough grounds while maintaining the same cabin craftsmanship level that led to the model being billed as one of the first ever ultra-premium SUV proponents. Head over after the break to find out Steve Sutcliffe’s opinion of the most important Bentley of the XXI century.
