Come summer, and the Fate of the Furious might bring yet another record for the Fast and Furious franchise, and those that might get cravings for more driving adventures need to know there’s a new film coming out this year to quench their thirst.
We’re talking about director Edgar Wright’s upcoming movie Baby Driver, which is the tale of a young getaway driver named Baby doing one last job. Two trailers for the film have already been released, and as far as we can understand, this is looks like Drive with the added twist of humor. The film will enter movie theaters August 11 in the United States and the premise is that after a car accident from when he was a child, Baby has a constant ringing in his ears – so he needs to perpetually listen to music to try and silence the sound. And this plot point makes moviegoers get a great soundtrack to accompany the action on screen.
Since we’re dealing with a getaway driver, we also need a getaway car. As far as we can tell, Baby seems to have chosen a newish Subaru WRX, but in the trailers we also see him doing his thing in a Chevrolet Avalanche and Dodge Challenger. Wright is also getting some stars for the chase movie – Kevin Spacey plays the crime boss, Jamie Foxx and Jon Hamm are a pair of robbers, while Lily James from Downton Abbey plays Ansel Elgort’s Baby love interest.
