British pride will go on without a stain because both SUV monsters share the same roots – island DNA. Other than that… how crazy is a drag race between the Bentayga and the RR SVAutobiography?!
The Land Rover Range Rover was the creator of this niche decades ago – and now automakers are taking notice of the ultra-posh part of the SUV segment. The Bentley Bentayga is of course the first to challenge the model’s flagship of the flagships superiority. And because luxury doesn’t bode well with high speeds – sorry, that was another story. No, if you can drag race a first generation Ford Ka you can certainly do the same with the Range Rover SVAutobiography and Bentley Bentayga. And because we’re dealing with Brits, they selected a European measuring unit?! – the standing kilometer (0.62 miles).
On paper, the Land Rover Range Rover SVAutobiography will lose badly – it has a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 packing 503 horsepower and 461 pound-feet (625 Newton-meters) and will tip the scales at a crazy 5,408 pounds (2,453 kilograms). The Bentley Bentayga comes to the party with its biturbo 6.0-liter W12 delivering 600 hp and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque – and it’s also not a lightweight contender, at 5,379 pounds. Check the video to see who won and wonder if they could be employed in the service of the Orient Express as locomotives…
