The new generation of the BMW 3-Series, codenamed the F30, has been recently awarded with a 5-star rating after the most recent EuroNCAP tests.
The 2012 BMW 3-Series F30 has been also named a “Top Safety Pick” by the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) over-seas and it seems that the German vehicle is highly appreciated on the Old Continent too, where the model has been awarded with a 5-star EuroNCAP rating. The safety specialists have tested a 320d which had a curb weight of 1,459 kg, but the German based car manufacturer says that all other F30 versions will perform identically.
In adult occupant testing, the BMW 3-Series F30 has received 34 points or 95%, with the most points being received in frontal impact, 15.8, and least points in the rear impact (whiplash), 3.1. The new generation of the BMW 3-Series had scored well for the child occupant, 41 points or 84% and the vehicle managed an impressive score in pedestrian protection, 28 points or 78 percent. The F30 has also been awarded with 6 points or 86% for the DSC and the seatbelt reminder for the driver, front passenger and rear occupants.
