A new promotional video with the BMW Concept X5 eDrive has been recently released by the German based automaker, offering some new details on the model.
The BMW Concept X5 eDrive has been designed in order to offer a preview of an upcoming production vehicle and it is getting a Silverflake metallic exterior finish with the BMW i Blue accents, some aerodynamic roof rails and 21-inch alloy wheels, to stand out from a crowd.
“You have the best of both worlds, everything that a conventional engine offers you – the reach, the power, the dynamics, the efficiency – and additionally you can drive such a concept, eDrive, as a pure electric car”, says the company’s Communications manager, Annette Connor.
The BMW Concept X5 eDrive is taking its power from a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which is made out of a TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder petrol burner, with 245 HP (180 kW) and an electric motor, generating 95 HP (70 kW). This is connected to a lithium-ion battery. The fuel consumption in the vehicle stands at an average of 3.8 L / 100 km (74.3 mpg UK / 61.8 mpg US) and the CO2 emissions stand at under 90 g/km. The model can travel up to 30 km (19 miles) on electricity and it needs less than 7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph).
