The guys at Auto Express have recently went for a spin in the brand new BMW i3 and the result of the test drive can be seen in the video posted below.
BMW’s first model from the new “i” brand, to make its way onto the market, is named the i3, and it has been officially presented to the public, in a world premiere, almost two months ago, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and now, one of the most awaited vehicles ever made by BMW is getting tested by the guys at Auto Express, so if you’re curios what the result is, all you have to do is scroll down and click play.
The BMW i3 is powered by an electric motor which is good for 170 HO (125 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. This is mated to a lithium-ion battery and a single-speed transmission, sending power to the rear wheels. The range of the car stands at 130-160 km (81-99 miles). There is also an internal combustion engine, in the shape of a 650cc two-cylinder petrol unit, which is adding another 34 HP. This has been placed next to the electric motor, above the rear axle, so it isn’t affecting the luggage capacity. In the United States, prices for the i3 have been set at 41,350 USD, and the model will go on sale in the second quarter of 2014.
