A BMW i8 “green” sports car has been recently pinned together with a 2015 Corvette Stingray in a drag race which should highlight the performance of the German vehicle.
The era in which we were wondering which would be faster between two different vehicle has passed a long time ago and thanks to amateur videos like the one posted below we are able to see whether our favorite car actually has what it needs so if you were asking just how fast can a BMW i8 be compared to a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, scroll down and click the play button in order to find out.
The BMW i8 is taking its power from a hybrid synchronous motor found under its hood, which is rated at 131 HP (86 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to the range extender I3 1.5 liter turbo unit, adding an extra 228 HP (170 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque, the total output of the “green” vehicle stands at 357 HP (266 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. The 2015 Corvette Stingray on the other hand is packing a 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine, rated at 455 / 460 HP, connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
