The BMW i8 and the Porsche 911 GTS have been recently put one against another in a review signed by EVO.
The Porsche 911 GTS and the BMW i8 may seem to be so different but they are the best example in which “old school” meets “new school”. The two sports cars have been tested recently by EVO and they have been put one against another on the track in a clip which should answer most of your questions and should make you figure it out if the i8 or the 911 GTS is what should be added to your garage.
Porsche has introduced the 911 GTS a few month back and the model is coming with the 20-inch Sport Classic wheels in two-tone finish, the tinted taillights, a sports exhaust system, bi-xenon headlights, special badging in the cabin, carbon fiber trim, Carmine Red accents, leather / Alcantara seats, stainless steel door plates and more. Power is being provided by a 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine, rated at 430 HP (320 kW). It needs 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill and it will go all the way up to 190 mph (305 km/h).
The BMW i8 on the other hand has been introduced as a concept back in 2009 and it came, four years later, in its final production version, during the Frankfurt Motor Show. The model is a plug-in hybrid sports car which has a two-door coupe body style and a 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline burner under its hood, backed up by an electric motor taking its juice from a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total output stands at 357 HP (2666 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque.
