We have a raft of new videos depicting the all-new BMW M5 from virtually every position – including the virtual world. It figures, since the hiper-performance sedan is certainly going to be a star of the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Mercedes-AMG E63 S has been playing virtually unhindered in the niche of extreme midsize sedans – but in just a few months the 600 hp V8-powered M5 will arrive to give it a run for their money. As always the M5 – this time around this is not a bad thing – plays it safe and serious in the looks department, coming with a rather understated styling. BMW’s engineers didn’t have such ideas on their agenda, on the other hand, playing with the familiar 4.4-liter V8 engine and installing new turbochargers, increased fuel injection pressure and other tweaks to boost power to 600 horsepower (441 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters) of torque.
Just like with the E63, for the first time ever the M5 will use the xDrive all-wheel drive system as standard equipment. It’s of the M variety though, and the division made sure you can still enjoy some RWD action for when you need to exorcise your drift demons. Going for €117,900 in Germany, the BMW M5 is right in between the E63 (€110,110) and E63 S (€121,891). If you don’t have the money, enjoy the M5 in the virtual world via the upcoming Need for Speed Payback arriving November 10 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
