The teasing game is important for any automaker – as long as it doesn’t spill the beans more than the company wants. The 2017 5 Series seems to be on the right track, enticing but not revealing.
BMW seems careful not to repeat the Mercedes E Class mayhem – the direct competitor was leaked in a huge gallery ahead of the automaker’s intended debut, spoiling the actual event. Now BMW has unveiled the first official teaser video of the new generation 2017 BMW 5 Series, which provides a quick view of the car ahead of the official public debut expected to occur during the Paris Motor Show. The new G30 5 Series is just glimpsed, while there are interspersed images talking about power, control, technology, and athleticism – if we get the record straight.
The silhouette depicts what appears to be an evolutionary design, much in the vein of the current F10 generation, complete with 7 Series rear lighting signature inspiration. The 5 Series will make use of the same CLAR architecture as the bigger sibling, also introducing the so-called Carbon Core carbon fiber elements to lower the weight. The new generation should be up to 220 pounds (100 kilograms) lighter than its predecessor, and come in sedan, Touring and gran Turismo hatchback body versions.
