The German premium sports manufacturer is touting a teaser in regards to the secret – for now – celebration for the 30 years anniversary of the M5 model.
The M Power blog is at the moment in a nostalgic mood, seeking to celebrate with us all five previous incarnations of the Autobahn-beating sedan and then end it all “with a surprise.”
To start the proceedings and kick-off in a smoky manner the celebrations, they outed a video of the current generation M5 doing some donuts. Then, before revealing the surprise, the BMW guys will chronicle all five generations – although most probably we’re in for a special edition of some sorts.
The first M5 was originally revealed in 1985 with a range topping 3.5-liter six-cylinder packing 282 horsepower (286 PS) – which was rather much for the period. Of course, besides being the most expensive BMW, the M5 also claimed to own the title of the fastest four-door sports sedan in series production. Now, the 4.4-liter M Twin Power Turbo V8 outs 560 hp and reaches an electronically limited 155 mph top speed, after first hitting 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds.
