German automaker BMW Ag. will launch the new M5 this year at the Shanghai Motor Show. Until then we have some technical data to share and two video teasers.
• 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo
• 578bhp, 530lb ft (~)
• 155mph limited top speed
• 0-62mph 4.4sec
• Unlimited top speed 188mph
Moreover, yesterday, BMW has just released an extended version that briefly showcases a pre-production M5 being driven on the snow in addition to some comments by Dr Kay Segler, president of BMW M GmbH.
BMW’s DCT dual-clutch transmission will almost certainly be on the order sheet—and while that’s a great transmission in the M3, we hope the company will continue to offer a traditional three-pedal version as well.
