The BMW M4 GTS is another sold out sensation coming from the iconic division of the biggest luxury automaker in the world – and now its credentials have been confirmed through a Nurburgring fast lap.
The ubiquitous circuit is one of the hardest in the world but also coveted by fans and automakers alike – and the latest example is the pride of BMW’s M division after Jörg Weidinger tipped an “outstanding time of approximately 7min 28s on the legendary Nürburgring North Loop”. He is an accomplished motorsports driver, with two titles each in the European Hill Climb Championship and the German Hill Climb Championship, a BMW Driving Experience instructor with a decade of experience and now working in the vehicle dynamics department at BMW M GmbH. So, just like the M4 GTS credentials, we’re not really questioning the reality of BMW’s claims.
Instead we’re eagerly waiting for more footage – what you’ll see after the break is a mere teaser, unfortunately. Before that comes out, we can remind you the M4 GTS has been introduced back in October and has numerous carbon fiber body tidbits, a titanium exhaust system, OLED taillights, the all-new water injection technology, and the 3.0-liter TwinTurbo 6-cylinder engine now tuned to deliver 500 hp (368 kW). The M division said the exact time is somewhere “between 7:27:51 and 7:28:49” and the preliminary figure outs the M4 GTS among the 40 fastest cars that took the Green Hell – making it quicker than sports cars such as the 2008 Porsche 911 GT2, Ferrari 458 Italia, Koenigsegg CCX, and others.
